Tengah Island Conservation (TIC) is a biodiversity management initiative located on the island’s Long Beach. Founded and partially funded by Batu Batu, TIC is dedicated to the research, rehabilitation and regeneration of our natural environment.

Tengah Island Conservation (TIC)
TIC grew organically from within Batu Batu. Initially, biodiversity data was collected and sustainable operating practices implemented within the resort by an in-house team. In 2014, Turtle Watch Camp was created and as part of a strategic partnership with the Department of Fisheries, the endangered sea turtle conservation programme was launched. As more scientists joined the team, the scope of work moved beyond a focus on turtles to wider marine and terrestrial environmental projects. TIC became an independent non-profit organisation registered under Malaysia’s Registry of Societies in 2019. TIC continues to be based at the Tunku Abdul Jalil Conservation Centre on Pulau Tengah today with Batu Batu as a primary funder.
